To the Gods of Snow
I'm not asking for much, just a few feet of snow to make winter a lot more enjoyable. Though I appreciate the nice weather I, along with many others, do believe it is time to make it snow...

Finally, the snow has started falling. Thus concluding another beautiful summer. Only two weeks until Winter Park Resort opens and the ski season begins. Hopefully the snow keeps coming down and we get a great ski season.

Snow Gods!!! What the - - - -?
Snow Gods, seriously, what the HECK? Really? 1 inch of snow while less than 10 miles as the crow flies it was 40 plus inches. Sacrifices have been made and continue to be made to YOU in the Mountains of Colorado. Circles of burning candles with ski boots in the middle, prayers, chants, burning of ski area maps and skis, etc... The Snow Gods have been summoned as they are every year by winter outdoor enthusiasts. Mountain communities all over Colorado and here locally in Fraser, locals say "it (snow) will come, it always does". It's February 5th, and while there is OK skiing at Winter Park Resort and other Resorts throughout Colorado, the days feel like a cool spring day. February came in like a Lion East of the Divide, but West of the Divide, February and pretty much the whole winter has been like a Lamb. I do believe the snow will come, it always does, but this year I just hope its not in May. If it does hit late in the season, well, it's time to pack up the mountain bikes and head for dry ground. Snow Gods, if your listening and not sitting on the beach in Australia, PLEASE bring us an Epic 2nd half of the season. Amen!

Sick Day
Just in time for a "Sick Day" from work this Friday, Winter Park is expected to get some decent snow Thursday into Friday. The cross country skiing at Snow Mountain Ranch and Devil's Thumb is great and should become much better Thursday. It's a great time to get up to the Fraser Valley and have some winter fun. Be sure to check out the Fraser/Winter Park Chamber website to get the low down on all of the great activities happening in Grand County. SYS!

Get to the "TOP"-WP opens the Panoramic Express Today!
Winter Park, Colorado: Winter Park Ski Resort opened the Panoramic Express lift today, opening many more acres of terrain. It's just in time for the new snow fall expected tonight. Typically the the top of Mary Jane gets much more snow like it's neighbor Berthoud Pass so the skiing should be great. The air temperature in Winter Park and Fraser has been dropping steadily in the past hour and the clear skies have succumbed to cloud cover. We all know what that means, SNOW! It's about time that we got back into the storm pattern with snow likely several days in the next week. So get your skis waxed and get on up here! Be sure to check out the great accommodations at the Rocky Mountain Chalet for your next sick day(powder day)!!

Valentines Day
Valentines Day is quickly approaching, so "Guys", get started by reserving a suite in the Winter Park/Fraser area. Don't forget the goodies: chocolates, red roses, champagne, strawberries and a trip to Victoria Secret, just to name a few. There are lots of outdoor activities in the Fraser Valley to kick off Valentines Day only to be followed by a romantic dinner and then a suite at the Rocky Mountain Chalet. A few dinner choices are: Caroline's Cuisine, Deno's Mountain Bistro, The Tabernash Tavern, Fontenot's, Alberto's and Brickhouse 40.
I probably should be writing this for all the women out there but I believe there are guys like me that believe in chivalry.

Snow Storm
Well, it looks like the jet stream has finally dropped down to provide Colorado a stream of winter storms. Despite warmer than usual temperatures, Winter Park Ski Resort, Sol Vista Basin and the Upper Fraser Valley has seen 14 inches of snowfall this week. We are expecting another 11 to 18 inches by Monday night which will make for some great Alpine skiing, snowmobiling, snow shoeing and Nordic skiing. Wax is key right now with the fluctuating warm to cold temperatures so check the daily temperatures before selecting your wax. Leaving the snow and going to the ice, Fraser has a new full size ice Rink "Icebox" that offers all types of family activities. Grand County also offers some of the best ice fishing in the State of Colorado.
